The annual camel races mark the beginning of the season in Al Dakhiliyah

The annual local camel races for the 2024/2025 season organized by the Oman Camel Racing Federation have begun at Al-Bashir Camel Race Track in the Wilayat of Adam in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The three-day event kicked off with 18 rounds for the category of Hajjaj, including young camels and Jaadan, covering a distance of 3 kilometers. A total of about 650 camels and Jaadan from various governorates of Oman participated in the races. The results of the first day saw various camels coming in first place in different rounds, with owners like Imad Al-Junaibi, Saeed Al-Jahhafi, and Nasser Al-Durai securing top positions.

The second day of the Al-Bishara races will see the continuation of the local camel races with 12 rounds for the Al-Laqaya category over a 4-kilometer distance. The event has garnered significant attention from camel racing enthusiasts and spectators who are eager to witness the competition and cheer for their favorite camels. The races not only showcase the athleticism and speed of the camels but also highlight the strong bond between the owners and their prized animals.

The local camel races in Oman are a traditional and cultural sport that has been passed down through generations, with a rich history dating back centuries.
