The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) recently hosted the 9th session of the ‘Illuminations’ initiative in celebration of World Teachers Day. The event saw the participation of over 300 students, teachers, parents, school headmasters, and senior officials from the Ministry. During the session, educational consultants and teachers shared their personal journeys in the teaching profession, their reasons for choosing this career, and how they inspire their colleagues and students to increase their passion for education.

The theme of this year’s session was ‘The Teacher: Giving That Inspires Generations,’ with speakers discussing the significance of teachers’ roles in shaping future leaders and generations. They shared their personal experiences in the educational field, highlighting the influences and challenges they faced and how they overcame them. The role of the community in supporting teachers, their relationships with students and the surrounding community, and the messages they wish to convey to their fellow teachers were also discussed.

Educational Consultant Dr. Abdulrahman Al Harami emphasized the importance of teachers in society, stating that they are the most giving members of the community. He called on parents and the community to support and elevate the status of teachers, recognizing the impact they have in shaping generations. Salman Youssef, a teacher at Ahmed Mansour Primary School for Boys, reminded teachers of the importance of feeling responsible and seeking rewards from God for their work, emphasizing that students deserve the best education.

Haya Al Kaabi, a teacher at Al Nahda Primary School for Girls, shared her journey as a teacher and highlighted the importance of passion and desire for educating generations. She emphasized that teachers are the foundation of society and its development and encouraged her fellow teachers by stating that they are in the right profession. The session concluded with the Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department at the Ministry, Maryam Abdullah Al Mohannadi, honoring the speakers for their valuable contributions that enriched the dialogue.

The ‘Illuminations’ initiative serves as a dialogue platform that brings together educators to discuss specific educational and academic issues of common interest. Launched by the Ministry of Education, the initiative aims to promote values of transparency, participation, and innovation in education. The discussions within the framework of the initiative begin with purposeful dialogue and exchange of opinions, culminating in the application of the session’s outputs and recommendations in the Ministry’s plans and policies.

Overall, the 9th session of the ‘Illuminations’ initiative in celebration of World Teachers Day was a platform for educators to share their experiences, challenges, and inspirations in the teaching profession. The speakers emphasized the importance of teachers in shaping future generations and leaders, calling for support from the community and parents. The initiative serves as a valuable platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas, aiming to improve education policies and practices in Qatar.
