The National Competitiveness Office (NCO) in Muscat has released the 2nd edition of the Oman Competitiveness Annual Report 2023. This report focuses on Oman’s performance in various international indices to raise public awareness and serve as a reference for government and private institutions and researchers. It includes 14 important international indicators that address economic, social, political, and environmental aspects. The report covers 7 main indicators outlined in the Oman Vision 2040 document, with the aim of improving the country’s performance in these areas.

The indicators analyzed in the report include global competitiveness, economic freedom, global governance, corruption perceptions, environmental performance, global innovation, and network readiness. In addition, seven sub-indicators were also examined to provide a comprehensive overview of Oman’s performance in international rankings. The NCO is actively involved in monitoring, analyzing, and submitting reports on these indices to the National Competitiveness Committee and relevant authorities responsible for improving these indicators.

To enhance Oman’s competitiveness in international indices, the NCO forms working teams in collaboration with government departments to implement improvements and proposals aimed at boosting the country’s rankings. These teams evaluate the potential impact of such actions on Oman’s competitiveness and work towards achieving better results in international reports. Moreover, the NCO maintains communication with international organizations to ensure the accuracy and relevance of Oman’s data shared with these entities.

The annual report issued by the NCO serves as a valuable tool for assessing Oman’s progress in international rankings and identifying areas that require attention and improvement. By analyzing various indicators related to global competitiveness, economic freedom, and environmental performance, the report offers insights into Oman’s standing compared to other countries worldwide. The NCO’s efforts in monitoring and analyzing these indicators demonstrate a commitment to enhancing Oman’s competitiveness and reputation on the global stage.

The collaboration between the NCO and government agencies in implementing recommendations and proposals for improving Oman’s performance in international indices is crucial for achieving long-term success. By working together to address key issues highlighted in the report, Oman can enhance its competitiveness and attract investments, talent, and opportunities on a global scale. The NCO’s dedication to supporting the Sultanate’s progress in international rankings underscores its role as a key driver of economic growth and development in Oman.

Overall, the Oman Competitiveness Annual Report 2023 provides a comprehensive overview of the country’s performance in key international indicators and highlights the areas where improvements are needed. By focusing on enhancing global competitiveness, economic freedom, and innovation, Oman can position itself as a leading player in the international arena. The NCO’s efforts to facilitate collaboration, monitor progress, and implement recommendations will play a critical role in advancing Oman’s competitiveness and reputation on the world stage.
