The National Cyber Security Agency in Doha, Qatar, recently launched the National Cyber Security Strategy 2024-2030, under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. The strategy aims to position Qatar as a global leader in securely adopting emerging technologies and contribute to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030. During the launch event, several ministers, heads of authorities, and senior officials were present to mark the occasion.

HE President of the National Cyber Security Agency, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Farahid Al Malki, emphasized the importance of unified efforts across government and private sectors in achieving cybersecurity goals. The guiding principles of the strategy are based on values of Shared Responsibility, Risk Based Approach, Results Oriented, Individual Human Rights, Economic Prosperity, and Coordination and Collaboration. These principles lay the foundation for achieving national cybersecurity and provide direction for implementation. The second National Cyber Security Strategy serves as a roadmap to address evolving cyber challenges and focuses on building strong foundations for cooperation and collaboration both locally and internationally.

The National Cyber Security Strategy outlines five key pillars, including Cyber Security and Resilience in the Qatar Ecosystem, Legislation, Regulations, and Law Enforcement, Thriving, Innovative, and Data-Driven Economy, Cyber Culture and Workforce Talent Development, and International Cooperation and Trusted Partners. These pillars focus on enhancing the security and resilience of Qatar’s cyber environment, developing legal and regulatory frameworks, fostering innovation and investments in cybersecurity capabilities, cultivating a qualified cybersecurity workforce, and enhancing international collaboration and cyber diplomacy.

In his concluding remarks, HE Al Malki reaffirmed the National Cyber Security Agency’s commitment to providing a secure cyberspace that benefits all individuals and organizations across Qatar, supports sustainable national development, and maintains Qatar’s position as a leader in cybersecurity, regionally and internationally. The strategy’s objectives and development process were presented by Engineer Dana Yousef Al Abdulla, highlighting the risks, opportunities, and vision that underpin the National Cyber Security Strategy 2024-2030. The strategy plays a crucial role in achieving the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and safeguarding national security in the face of evolving cyber threats.

The launch of the National Cyber Security Strategy represents a comprehensive, resilient, and forward-looking framework to address the significant challenges posed by cybersecurity in today’s digital world. As cybersecurity continues to shape national security and the daily lives of individuals, Qatar’s commitment to building a secure cyberspace and fostering international cooperation underscores its leadership in the field. By focusing on collaboration, innovation, and a skilled cybersecurity workforce, the strategy aims to strengthen Qatar’s position as a global leader in cybersecurity and secure the nation’s digital future.
