Oisin Murphy once again displayed his riding prowess as he guided New Century to victory at Woodbine in the USA. The two-year-old colt, trained by Andrew Balding and owned by Qatar Racing Limited, was competing at Group 1 level for the first time after winning the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury. New Century is now set to compete in the Gr.1 Futurity Trophy Stakes at Doncaster next month, showcasing his potential for success in top-level races.

During the race, New Century was held up towards the rear of the field as another horse, Dream On, took the lead entering the final straight. However, with the expert guidance of Oisin Murphy, New Century gradually closed in on the leader and began to assert himself in the final 100 meters. Despite a strong defense from the runner-up, Al Qudra, New Century’s determination and skill led him to a well-deserved victory. Dream On finished in third place, highlighting the competitiveness of the race.

Bred by The Potent Embrace Partnership, New Century comes from a strong lineage. His dam, Potent Embrace, is the daughter of the multiple Group 3 winner Karen’s Caper and is also the half-sister of another Group 3 winner, Passion And Glory. This impressive pedigree adds to New Century’s potential for success on the racetrack and establishes him as a horse to watch in future races.

Overall, New Century’s victory at Woodbine, guided by Oisin Murphy, is a testament to the skill and talent of both the jockey and the horse. With a strong performance at Group 1 level, New Century has proven his ability to compete against top competition and emerge victorious. As he moves on to the next challenge in the Gr.1 Futurity Trophy Stakes at Doncaster, fans and bettors alike will be eagerly watching to see if New Century can continue his winning streak and establish himself as a true racing star.
