The State of Qatar, represented by the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA), is actively participating in the 59th meeting of the Technical Committee for Retirement and Social Insurance Agencies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The three-day meeting, being held in Manama, Bahrain, aims to foster cooperation among the GCC nations in the realms of civil retirement and social insurance. Ali Al Kuwari, Director of Customer Management at GRSIA, is leading the Qatari delegation at the event.

The agenda of the meeting includes crucial discussions on the governance of the technical committee’s work, updating the unified system for extending insurance protection among member states, and initiatives such as a comparative study of civil retirement and social insurance systems. The meeting will also explore the concept of electronically linking civil retirement and social insurance agencies to streamline the exchange of information between member states and enhance technical cooperation. Other discussions will revolve around training and qualification initiatives, an annual awareness campaign, and international cooperation efforts in this sector.

Moreover, the meeting will tackle issues related to statistical indicators and the advancement of collection mechanisms to target employees within the unified system. Additionally, the Civil Retirement and Social Insurance Funds Research Award will be discussed to encourage scientific research and innovation in the field. The gathering will also involve honoring prominent individuals in the retirement and social insurance field, as well as addressing data on disbursements for pensioners and their beneficiaries, work injuries, and occupational diseases.

Through its active participation in this meeting, GRSIA is demonstrating Qatar’s dedication to bolstering Gulf cooperation in civil retirement and social insurance matters. The country is keen on engaging with initiatives that contribute to the development of this crucial sector in a manner that benefits the citizens of the Gulf region. By taking part in these discussions and collaborations, Qatar is reinforcing its commitment to fostering regional partnerships and advancements in retirement and social insurance services.

Overall, the 59th meeting of the GCC Technical Committee for Retirement and Social Insurance Agencies serves as a platform for GCC countries to enhance their collaboration and exchange ideas on key topics in civil retirement and social insurance. By addressing governance, updating systems, and initiating new projects, member states aim to strengthen their technical cooperation, improve data collection mechanisms, and promote scientific research in this field. Qatar’s involvement in the meeting underscores its dedication to regional cooperation and development in civil retirement and social insurance, highlighting the country’s commitment to advancing the well-being of Gulf citizens.
