The Sultanate of Oman has been recognized as one of the world’s most prepared countries when it comes to cybersecurity, according to the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) released by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Oman’s overall performance rose to 97.02 points in the 2024 index, up from 96 points in the 2020 index. The GCI criteria include the legal, technical, regulatory, capacity building, and international cooperation standards.

The ITU report revealed that Oman achieved the highest score in the “international cooperation and institutional organization standard,” highlighting its commitment to collaborating with other countries on cybersecurity initiatives. Additionally, Oman scored 19.59 points in the legal standard, 18.39 points in the technical standard, and 19.03 points in the capacity building standard. This demonstrates Oman’s dedication to ensuring a comprehensive and robust cybersecurity framework.

With its strong performance in the GCI, Oman has solidified its position as a global leader in cybersecurity preparedness. The Sultanate’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity measures through legal, technical, regulatory, and capacity building standards has not gone unnoticed. Oman’s proactive approach to cybersecurity has earned it recognition on the world stage and sets a positive example for other countries to follow.

Oman’s high score in international cooperation and institutional organization exemplifies its willingness to work with other nations to address cybersecurity challenges. By actively participating in global cybersecurity initiatives, Oman is contributing to a safer and more secure digital environment for all. This collaborative approach reinforces Oman’s commitment to protecting critical infrastructure and information systems from cyber threats.

The Sultanate’s emphasis on capacity building underscores its focus on developing a skilled workforce capable of addressing evolving cybersecurity threats. By investing in training and education programs, Oman is equipping its citizens with the knowledge and skills needed to safeguard against cyber attacks. This proactive approach to capacity building ensures that Oman remains at the forefront of cybersecurity readiness.

Overall, Oman’s impressive performance in the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index is a testament to its commitment to cybersecurity excellence.
