The International Cricket Council recently announced the ticket pricing for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to be held in the UAE. The ICC Chief Executive, Geoff Allardice, revealed that match tickets will be priced affordably, starting from just Dh 5, with free entry for those under 18. This initiative is aimed at making the event accessible to a wide range of fans and leaving a lasting legacy for women’s cricket in the region.

Allardice praised the UAE as a venue for the tournament, highlighting the country’s diversity and the support it provides to all teams participating in the event. He expressed his delight at the opportunity to bring the World Cup to the UAE and thanked the Emirates Cricket Board for hosting the tournament after it was moved from Bangladesh. The ICC also plans to work with the Emirates Cricket Board and the Dubai Sports Council on creating a legacy for the event through various initiatives.

In addition to the tournament, the ICC will be organizing festivals to give more than 500 girls the chance to experience and get involved in the game of cricket. Allardice expressed his gratitude to the Emirates Cricket Board, the Dubai Sports Council, and the teams at the Dubai International Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium for their efforts in making this event possible. The collaboration between these organizations aims to ensure a successful and memorable experience for all participants and fans.

Emirates Cricket Board’s Board Member, Zayed Abbas, expressed his excitement about hosting the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE. He mentioned the rich experience and proven pedigree of the Emirates Cricket Board in hosting top-class cricket events and reiterated their commitment to delivering a world-class tournament. Abbas emphasized the thrill of witnessing the best women cricketers from around the world competing for the T20 format’s biggest prize in Dubai and Sharjah.

The tournament will feature 10 teams competing in 23 matches over 18 days from October 3-20. The group stage matches will be divided between Dubai and Sharjah, with the semifinals scheduled for 17 October in Dubai and 18 October in Sharjah. The final match will be held in Dubai to determine the champion team of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Group A includes Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland.

Overall, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE promises to be an exciting and competitive event, with top teams from around the world vying for the championship title. The affordable ticket prices and free entry for under 18s make the tournament accessible to a wide range of fans, ensuring a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere at the matches.
