A delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) visited the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) in Oman. The delegates met with Dr. Ali Masoud Al Sunaidi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), and Eng. Ahmed Ali Akaak, CEO of SEZAD, to discuss the efforts being made to implement infrastructure projects in the zone to attract local and foreign investment. These efforts have already proven successful in attracting numerous projects to the area.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed ways to enhance cooperation with the AIIB in order to benefit from the bank’s mechanisms for financing new projects in SEZAD. The bank delegation expressed interest in strengthening their relationship with SEZAD and expanding their operations in Duqm. The Sultanate of Oman is one of the countries that contribute to the AIIB, making this partnership a mutually beneficial opportunity for both parties.

The visit from the AIIB delegation highlights the growing interest and investment in the development of Duqm as a key economic hub in the region. The infrastructure projects being implemented by SEZAD are crucial in attracting both local and foreign investors to the zone and creating a conducive environment for business growth. By working closely with organizations like the AIIB, SEZAD can further enhance its capabilities and attract more projects to the area.

The collaboration between SEZAD and the AIIB also demonstrates the commitment to sustainable development and economic growth in Duqm. By leveraging the resources and expertise of the AIIB, SEZAD can accelerate the implementation of key infrastructure projects and create new opportunities for investment in the zone. This partnership signifies a strategic alliance that will benefit both parties and contribute to the continued development of Duqm as a thriving economic zone.

As a member country of the AIIB, Oman stands to benefit from increased investment and support for its infrastructure development projects. The visit from the AIIB delegation reaffirms the bank’s commitment to expanding its operations in Duqm and supporting the growth of the local economy. By working together, SEZAD and the AIIB can collaborate on new initiatives and projects that will further enhance the economic potential of Duqm and attract more investors to the area.

Overall, the meeting between the AIIB delegation and SEZAD officials marks a significant step towards strengthening cooperation and promoting economic development in Duqm. By leveraging the resources and expertise of both parties, SEZAD can continue to implement key infrastructure projects and attract more investment to the zone. The partnership between SEZAD and the AIIB holds great promise for the future growth and prosperity of the Duqm Special Economic Zone.
