The Qatari Businesswomen Association (QBWA) is gearing up to participate in the World Trade Organization’s Public Forum, which is scheduled to take place from September 10 to 13 in Geneva. The forum’s theme, “Re-Globalization: Better Trade for a Better World,” reflects QBWA’s mission to empower women in the global trade sector. The Association will contribute to the event through two key initiatives: a session focused on leveraging digitalization for women’s empowerment and an art exhibition by renowned Qatari artist and QBWA board member, Amal Al Aathem.

Vice Chairwoman of QBWA, Aisha Alfardan, highlighted the importance of the Association’s participation in the WTO Public Forum as a means to showcase the vital role digitalization plays in creating inclusive trade practices that support women entrepreneurs. The panel discussion, titled “Empowering Women: Digitalization for Inclusive Trade,” will delve into how digital technologies can open new avenues for women in global trade. Panelists will explore strategies to bridge the digital gender gap, enhance women’s participation in e-commerce, and use digital tools to overcome traditional barriers.

In addition to the policy discussions, QBWA will host an exclusive art exhibition by Amal Al Aathem, titled “Observers.” The exhibition invites attendees to reflect on the current global landscape through a series of thought-provoking artworks. Al Aathem’s works delve into themes of observation and introspection, aligning perfectly with the forum’s focus on rethinking globalization’s impact on societies. The artist expressed that art provides a unique lens through which to examine and question the world around us, making the exhibition a fitting addition to the event.

By combining policy discussions with cultural exchange, QBWA is showcasing a holistic strategy to promote the interests of Qatari women on the global stage. The Association’s dual approach of hosting a panel discussion on digitalization for inclusive trade and an art exhibition by Amal Al Aathem demonstrates their commitment to empowering women in the global trade sector. Through their participation in the WTO Public Forum, QBWA aims to highlight the importance of creating a more inclusive and thoughtful global trade environment.

The WTO Public Forum serves as the organization’s largest annual outreach event, bringing together over 2,000 participants from diverse backgrounds, including policymakers, civil society representatives, academics, and business leaders. It provides a unique platform for stakeholders to shape the future of global trade and exchange ideas on how to create a more inclusive and sustainable trading system. QBWA’s participation in the forum underscores their dedication to empowering Qatari women and advocating for gender equality in the global trade sector.

Overall, the QBWA’s participation in the WTO Public Forum in Geneva highlights their commitment to creating a more inclusive and empowering environment for women in the global trade sector. Through their panel discussion on digitalization for inclusive trade and an art exhibition by Amal Al Aathem, the Association is showcasing a holistic approach to promoting the interests of Qatari women on the global stage. By participating in this significant international business event, QBWA is demonstrating their dedication to empowering women and advocating for gender equality in the global trade sector.
