Geekend, Qatar’s premier pop culture event by Doha Film Institute, is more than just a celebration of contemporary culture. The Geekend Lounge offers a relaxing space for visitors to unwind and soak in the atmosphere of the event. The Geekend Market provides a platform for creatives such as character designers, concept artists, and fan artists to showcase their work, interact with the community, and sell their creations. In addition to these attractions, the event features competitive board games, Geekdom Side Quests, games for all ages, and Majlis Shabab and GAG-run activities. An Escape Game, ‘Tokyo Mystery’, also returns for attendees to enjoy.
Gaming enthusiasts will be thrilled to participate in eSports tournaments featuring popular titles like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, EA FC 24, League of Legends, and Rocket League. Winners of these tournaments stand to win fantastic prizes, including cash and vouchers worth over QR60,000. Geekend has partnered with Store 974, Snoonu, Raw’a, and Iloveqatar as the media partner to ensure a successful and engaging event for all attendees. The stage programme will include Karaoke nights, the Open Gaming Challenge, and events by Nakama, such as trivia competitions.
A new highlight of Geekend is the Snoonu Hackathon, where participants are challenged to create art based on a specific theme unveiled at the start of the event.
