Qatari athlete Ali Arshad finishes seventh in Paralympics final

Qatari para athlete Ali Arshad recently competed in the men’s 800 meters wheelchair (T34 category) final at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. While he finished in seventh place, he expressed happiness with his performance and thanked the Qatar Paralympic Committee for their support throughout his career. Arshad had qualified for the final after setting a personal best time in the first round.

In the final race, Arshad clocked 1 minute 41.84 seconds, with Canadian para-athlete Austin Smeenk taking the gold medal in 1 minute 39.27 seconds. Thailand’s Chaiwat Rattana secured second place with a time of 1 minute 39.48 seconds, while Australia’s Rheed McCracken won the bronze in 1 minute 40.13 seconds. Despite the tough competition, Arshad remains motivated to work harder in his upcoming races following his experience in Paris.

The Secretary-General of the Qatar Paralympic Committee, Dr. Hassan Al Ansari, expressed pride in Arshad’s performances in both the 100 and 800-meter races. He highlighted Arshad’s natural talent and potential for future success in Paralympic events.
