An earthquake of magnitude 2.3 hit Masafi on September 1, according to the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology. The tremors were felt by residents at 7.53 am UAE time, with a depth of 1.6km. However, the NCM assured that the earthquake had no impact on the UAE.

In recent months, there have been other seismic activities recorded in the UAE. On August 18, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake occurred near Dibba. Additionally, a 2.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Masafi on June 8. Residents also felt tremors from earthquakes in the Oman Sea on May 29, with magnitudes of 3.1 and 2.8.

Despite the occasional occurrence of earthquakes in the region, experts in seismology have advised residents not to worry. The UAE experiences tremors periodically, but there is no cause for alarm. The NCM continues to monitor seismic activities to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.

By staying vigilant and informed, residents can ensure their safety in the event of natural disasters like earthquakes.

As part of ongoing efforts to monitor and assess seismic activities, the NCM and other relevant authorities work to provide timely and accurate information to the public. By remaining transparent and sharing updates regularly, authorities can help residents understand and prepare for any potential risks associated with earthquakes or other natural disasters.

While minor earthquakes are relatively common in the UAE, residents can take precautions to ensure their safety, such as securing heavy furniture, creating emergency plans, and staying informed about emergency procedures. By being proactive and prepared, residents can minimize the impact of natural disasters and ensure their well-being in the face of unexpected events.
