Portugal coach Roberto Martínez has recently announced his squad list for the upcoming Nations League matches, including Cristiano Ronaldo, despite his disappointing performance at the Euro 2024. The veteran forward, who holds the record for 130 international goals, failed to score in all five games at the European Championship before Portugal was eliminated by France in a penalty shootout. Martínez emphasized that the team is now focusing on a new cycle for the 2026 World Cup, where Ronaldo would be 41 years old.

After being benched by predecessor Fernando Santos during the 2022 World Cup, where he scored in the opening match but failed to find the net in the subsequent games, Ronaldo has been restored to the starting lineup by Martínez. The coach praised Ronaldo’s unique level of play and physical capabilities at the age of 39, stating that he is essential for the national team’s objectives. Despite Ronaldo’s current form, Martínez stressed that the focus is on improving the team’s performance in the upcoming matches and not on predicting the future.

Ronaldo’s inclusion in the squad for the Nations League matches against Croatia and Scotland has generated excitement among fans and experts. With his experience and goal-scoring prowess, Ronaldo remains an important asset for Portugal as they aim to build a successful team for the future. The Portuguese forward’s dedication and determination to continue playing at the highest level at his age have been commendable, earning him respect and admiration from fans all over the world.

As Portugal prepares for the upcoming matches, all eyes will be on Ronaldo to deliver strong performances and lead his team to victory. Despite the challenges faced by the national team in recent tournaments, Ronaldo’s presence provides hope and optimism to the fans. With his leadership on and off the field, Ronaldo serves as a role model for younger players and motivates them to strive for excellence in their own careers.

While there may be uncertainties about Ronaldo’s future in international football, his commitment to the national team remains unwavering. As Portugal embarks on a new journey towards the 2026 World Cup, Ronaldo’s experience and skills will be crucial in guiding the team to success. With a renewed sense of determination and a collective goal in mind, Portugal looks to Ronaldo for inspiration and leadership as they face upcoming challenges on the road to international glory.
