A tragic incident occurred on a Dubai highway where one student lost their life and 11 others were injured after a vehicle swerved and flipped over. The car crashed into an iron barrier and overturned in a sandy area on the side of the Hatta-Lahbab Road. It was reported that 12 students, all believed to be Asians, were packed into the car, violating the passenger limit which is a punishable offense in the UAE.

According to a police source, initial investigations suggest that the accident was caused by speeding, negligence, and lack of attention on the driver’s part, leading to the driver losing control of the vehicle. Maj-Gen Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, acting commandant assistant for Operations Affairs, stated that one student died, while the injured students were taken to the hospital for treatment. The injuries were described as mild to moderate.

Maj-Gen Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, acting commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, urged parents to ensure the safe transportation of their children to and from schools, warning against the use of unlicensed services offered by drivers. He also reminded drivers not to violate a car’s passenger limit and highlighted the risks of driving while extremely tired and exhausted, as driver fatigue diminishes focus and impairs reaction speed.

The police stressed that speeding, sudden maneuvers, and driver negligence are major contributors to accidents on the road. It is important for drivers to stay vigilant, follow traffic regulations, and prioritize safety on the roads to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring. Maj-Gen Al Mansouri emphasized the importance of being responsible behind the wheel to ensure the safety of all road users.

In conclusion, it is essential for all individuals, whether drivers or passengers, to prioritize safety and adhere to traffic laws to prevent accidents and tragedies on the roads. The loss of a student’s life in this incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of reckless driving and negligence. Let this unfortunate event serve as a wake-up call for all road users to exercise caution, responsibility, and mindfulness while on the roads to avoid similar incidents in the future.
