Abu Dhabi Golf Resort is gearing up to host the Team Cup on the DP World Tour. Scheduled for 10th to 12th January 2025, this three-day match play event will see Great Britain & Ireland go head to head against Continental Europe. Major champions Francesco Molinari and Justin Rose have been named as the Playing Captains for their respective teams. The event promises an exciting start to the golf season, featuring some of the best players from both regions.

Francesco Molinari, who captained Continental Europe to victory two years ago, will be facing his Ryder Cup teammate, Justin Rose, who is assuming the Great Britain and Ireland captaincy for the first time. The tournament will see the pair leading teams of ten DP World Tour Members in the match play contest, with Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald also overseeing the proceedings. The event serves as a crucial opportunity for players to showcase their skills and prove themselves to Captain Luke Donald ahead of the Ryder Cup.

In addition to Molinari and Rose, the teams will also include the top four Continental European and GB & I members from the final 2024 Race to Dubai Rankings, with the remaining players being handpicked by the respective Captains in consultation with Donald. The event, formerly known as the Hero Cup, offers players invaluable experience in a team environment and a chance to understand what it means to represent Europe in the Ryder Cup. Francesco and Justin’s leadership is highly anticipated, following their impressive performances in previous editions of the event.

Abu Dhabi Sports Council will be returning as an Official Partner of the event, highlighting their dedication to promoting golf in the region. As part of their support, they will also be hosting the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links, Yas Island from 4th to 7th November 2024. Abu Dhabi Golf Resort has a rich history of hosting golf events, having hosted the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship for 16 consecutive editions from 2006 to 2021.

The Team Cup marks an exciting opportunity for players to showcase their skills, with a focus on preparing for major events like the Ryder Cup. The event provides a unique platform for players to experience team dynamics and understand the significance of representing Europe in prestigious tournaments. With Francesco Molinari and Justin Rose at the helm, the teams are gearing up for an intense competition at the Abu Dhabi Golf Resort, promising a thrilling start to the golf season in 2025. The event also serves as a vital stepping stone for players looking to secure a spot in the Ryder Cup team under the guidance of Captain Luke Donald.
