Al Faisal Without Borders Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar has successfully implemented the “Destination Imagination” programme in 96 public and private schools. This programme saw the participation of 202 teams and almost 2,000 students from different educational stages. Out of these schools, 18 qualified to represent Qatar in the Global Finals held in Kansas, USA from May 21 to 26, 2024. The selected schools prepared a team of 35 students to compete in scientific, engineering, and technological challenges with participants from 20 countries and over 50 states within the USA.

Following the local tournament held at Qatar University in February, Al Faisal Without Borders Foundation has worked closely with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to provide full support to the teams participating in the DI Global Finals. Special training sessions have been conducted to ensure that the participating teams are well-prepared to face the challenges and compete at the highest level. The goal is for the teams representing Qatar to achieve top positions in the global championship and make their mark on the international stage.

H E Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Founder and Chairman of Al Faisal Without Borders Foundation, expressed his delight at the participation of Qatari school teams in the DI Global Finals. He sees this as a significant achievement that highlights the creativity of Qatari students and the quality of education in the country. Sheikh Faisal emphasized his full support for the participating teams and wished them success and victory in the Global Finals. This participation also serves as an opportunity for Qatari students to showcase their talents and skills on an international platform.

Eng Abdullatif Ali Al Yafei, the General Manager of Al Faisal Without Borders Foundation, highlighted the importance of international participations for students. Competing with countries like the USA, China, Poland, and Turkiye allows students to gain valuable experience and face various intellectual and educational challenges. It also helps them acquire the necessary skills for their scientific careers and prepares them for future endeavors. These international exchanges promote cultural understanding and collaboration among students from different backgrounds, fostering a spirit of global citizenship.

Overall, the participation of Qatar Team in the DI Global Finals is a testament to the commitment of Al Faisal Without Borders Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in promoting educational excellence and innovation among Qatari students. By participating in international competitions, students have the opportunity to broaden their horizons, enhance their skills, and showcase their talents to a global audience. The support and encouragement from leaders like Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani demonstrate the importance of investing in the future of Qatar’s youth and empowering them to succeed on the world stage. Through initiatives like the “Destination Imagination” programme, Qatar is nurturing the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and leaders who will contribute to the country’s development and progress in the years to come.
