Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Women in Bahrain, recently issued an edict amending the categories and benefits of the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for the Advancement of Bahraini Women. The award is aimed at recognizing the efforts of ministries, official and private institutions, civil society organizations, and individuals in advancing the status of women in Bahrain.

The edict was issued after a review of previous orders related to the establishment and amendment of the award, with input from the Secretary General of the SCW. It outlines the purpose of the award, the levels of recognition, and the benefits for different types of entities. Winners will receive financial rewards to support projects or training programs for working women, a shield with the award’s logo, and a certificate of appreciation from the SCW President. They will also be allowed to display the award’s logo on their premises for a specified period.

In addition to the award for institutions, there is a category for individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of women in Bahrain. Winners in this category will also receive financial rewards for projects or programs benefiting women, a shield with the award’s logo, and a certificate of appreciation from HRH Princess Sabeeka herself. The edict also established a committee for the Eighth Edition of the award, covering the period of 2024-2026.

The Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for the Advancement of Bahraini Women is an important initiative that highlights the ongoing efforts to support and empower women in the country. By recognizing and rewarding those who have made a difference in this area, the award aims to inspire others to follow suit and contribute to the advancement of women’s rights and opportunities in Bahrain.

The recognition provided by the award, in the form of financial assistance, shields, and certificates, is a testament to the value placed on the work being done to support women in Bahrain. It also serves as a way to publicly acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of individuals and entities that have dedicated their time and resources to improving the lives of women in the country.

The formation of a committee to oversee the award for the next two years ensures that the selection process is fair and transparent, and that the criteria for recognition are consistently applied. This will help to maintain the integrity and credibility of the award, ensuring that it continues to be a meaningful and prestigious honor for those who receive it.

Overall, the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for the Advancement of Bahraini Women is a symbol of the ongoing commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment in Bahrain. By incentivizing and recognizing efforts to support and promote women’s rights and opportunities, the award helps to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all members of the community.
