UAE citizens with a US visa will soon benefit from expedited entry into the United States as the country has been included in the ‘Global Entry Programme’. This agreement was recently signed between the UAE and US, aiming to ease cross border travel for Emiratis starting from October 2024. Through the programme, Global Entry participants can fast-track their arrival process into the US ports of entry, enhancing security measures while avoiding long lines and paperwork at CBP preclearance facilities. This initiative requires participants to have a valid US visa to be eligible for the programme.

As part of the process, UAE and US government authorities will work together to establish and finalize criteria for the UAE’s full participation in the Global Entry programme. The signing of the agreement took place during UAE President Sheikh Mohamed’s official visit to the US, highlighting the collaborative efforts to strengthen bilateral security and facilitate commerce and travel between the two countries. UAE Ambassador to the US, Yousef Al Otaiba, emphasized the significance of this arrangement in enhancing security measures while making travel more convenient for Emirati citizens.

The Global Entry programme aims to expedite the entry procedures for travellers entering the US, allowing pre-screened participants to utilize Global Entry kiosks at US ports of entry or preclearance facilities. This process not only streamlines the arrival process but also enhances security measures for both the US and UAE citizens. The inclusion of the UAE in the Global Entry programme will provide Emiratis with access to expedited entry at 75 airports in the US and other countries, further facilitating travel and commerce between the two nations.
