The first edition of the Unity “Takatuf” conference for people with disabilities in private schools and kindergartens kicked off in Doha, Qatar. The two-day conference, organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, includes the participation of officials, experts, and specialists from both Qatar and abroad. The opening ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, directors of private schools and kindergartens, and parents. During the event, a framework for people with disabilities in private schools and kindergartens was launched, focused on ensuring equal access to education and fully integrating students with disabilities into the education system through international best practices.

Omar Abdulaziz Al-Naama, Assistant Undersecretary for Special Education Affairs at the Ministry, emphasized the significance of the conference in providing support and care for students with disabilities. He highlighted that education is a fundamental right for everyone, and it is essential to remove obstacles preventing students with disabilities from reaching their full potential. Al-Naama pointed out that private schools and kindergartens play a crucial role in offering integrated educational programs tailored to individual needs, fostering academic and social success. The comprehensive integration of people with disabilities into the educational process enhances their self-confidence and paves the way for a successful future, emphasizing the importance of community awareness and empowerment of individuals with disabilities.

Al-Naama acknowledged disability as the start of a new journey, filled with challenges and determination, requiring support from various stakeholders including parents, teachers, and decision-makers. He commended the efforts of Qatar in supporting students with disabilities by establishing specialized schools and providing educational vouchers based on their needs. These efforts aim to empower students to achieve creativity and innovation in various fields. Dr. Rania Mohammed, Director of the Department of Private Schools and Kindergartens at the Ministry, highlighted Qatar’s commitment to promoting the rights and integration of people with disabilities into society. She stressed the importance of providing a supportive environment for individuals with disabilities to participate effectively in social, educational, and economic aspects of life.

Dr. Mohammed emphasized the collective commitment to creating a distinguished and comprehensive educational environment where every child can thrive despite challenges. She announced the launch of the Disability Framework for Private Schools and Kindergartens, based on international best practices and aimed at ensuring equal access to education for students with disabilities. Key elements of the framework include early identification and intervention, inclusive education policies, appropriate support, monitoring and evaluation, and training. The conference serves as a platform for exchanging experiences and raising awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities, calling for continued efforts to achieve equality and social justice.

In conclusion, the Unity “Takatuf” conference in Doha exemplifies Qatar’s dedication to supporting individuals with disabilities in pursuing education and integration into society. Through the launch of the Disability Framework for Private Schools and Kindergartens, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education emphasizes the importance of equal access to education and the need for tailored support for students with disabilities. The conference serves as a platform for dialogue, exchange of experiences, and raising awareness about the rights and empowerment of individuals with disabilities. By working together, stakeholders can ensure that every child, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive and succeed in their educational journey. Qatar’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for individuals with disabilities reflects its core values of inclusivity, compassion, and equality.
