The Deputy King attends the eighth edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism

The Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, recently attended the eighth edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism, an event held under his patronage. This event coincided with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years since HM the King’s accession to the throne. During the ceremony, HRH the Deputy King emphasized the importance of the press as a major partner in the Kingdom’s development, noting its role in conveying constructive messaging with credibility, responsibility, and integrity. Prince Salman bin Hamad also highlighted the press’s role in raising public awareness and building discourse that aids overall progress and development.

His Royal Highness further emphasized that the achievements highlighted by the national press contribute to further successes and inspire future generations to excel and contribute to the Kingdom’s ongoing progress. Prince Salman bin Hamad presented the awards to the winners and commended the originality and creativity of the submissions in various award categories. He also praised the participation of journalism and media students in the Awards, acknowledging their determination and competition in the field. The Deputy King lauded the efforts of the Kingdom’s media professionals in furthering the profession in line with the nation’s goals.

The Minister of Information Affairs, HE Dr Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Nuaimi, expressed gratitude to HRH Prince Salman for sponsoring the Award ceremony and honoring its winners. He highlighted the support received by the Kingdom’s media professionals from His Majesty the King and HRH the Deputy King for responsible freedom of expression, essential for development. The Minister noted that this year’s award ceremony coincides with Manama being selected as the 2024 Capital of Arab Media. Dr Al Nuaimi extended his congratulations to the winners and encouraged them to continue being partners in the Kingdom’s progress and development.

The winners of the eighth edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism expressed their appreciation for HRH Prince Salman’s continued support of the Kingdom’s media professionals and institutions. They spoke about the honor of being recognized for their work, which they believe will enrich their media and professional careers. The recipients of the awards included journalists, editors, photographers, and students, all recognized for their contributions to journalism and media in Bahrain. The ceremony was attended by senior officials, journalists, and media professionals who came together to celebrate the achievements in the field of journalism.
