The Department of Zakat Affairs distributes QR9.3 million in aid during August

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Doha, Qatar recently announced that in August 2024, the Department of Zakat Affairs provided aid amounting to QR 9,317,935 to 420 families in need in the State of Qatar. Mohamed Jaber Al Baridi, the Head of the Zakat services section at the Department, emphasized that the department ensures that 100 percent of zakat donations reach eligible families in Qatar, following established controls and mechanisms.

There are two types of assistance provided by the Department of Zakat Affairs. The first type is monthly aid given to families to assist them with their needs for food, drink, and housing, totaling QR 6,627,381. The second type is a lump sum aid provided once according to each family’s specific needs, amounting to QR 2,690,554. Al Baridi also mentioned that individuals in need of assistance can submit their applications along with all required documents on the department’s official website.

Zakat donations can be made through various channels, including the department’s app, website, collection offices across the country, rapid collection service numbers, and wiring donations to the Department of Zakat Affairs’ bank accounts. These multiple options make it convenient for individuals and companies to contribute to helping families in need in Qatar.

The transparency and efficiency of the Department of Zakat Affairs in ensuring that zakat donations reach those who are eligible for assistance demonstrate the commitment of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs to support the community and uphold Islamic principles of charity and giving.
