Tamkeen, the Labour Fund of Bahrain, has recently signed two agreements with Gulf Air, the national carrier of the country, to support the training of Bahrainis as pilots and aviation engineers. This initiative aims to strengthen national capabilities in aviation by providing specialized training and creating sustainable job opportunities within the sector. The support includes training 50 Bahrainis as second officers and 24 Bahrainis in aviation engineering, both fields that require a high level of technical expertise. This collaboration builds upon Tamkeen’s previous training support to 110 pilots at the company, showcasing a commitment to developing Bahraini talent in the aviation industry.

Her Excellency Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of Tamkeen, highlighted the organization’s dedication to supporting Bahraini talent in various sectors to make them the preferred choice for employment. She emphasized the significance of the partnership with Gulf Air in providing promising opportunities for Bahrainis in the aviation sector, which offers high-income jobs and growth prospects both locally and internationally. This partnership reflects Tamkeen’s efforts to provide training opportunities that align with global standards, preparing Bahrainis to succeed in the vital aviation industry within the Kingdom.

Mr. Jeffrey Goh, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air Group, expressed the airline’s commitment to developing qualified national talent in the aviation sector through the partnership with Tamkeen. He noted that the aviation industry offers rewarding job opportunities and that Gulf Air is focused on enhancing the skills of its workforce to meet global standards. By expanding the training of Bahrainis as pilots and flight attendants, Gulf Air aims to create professional development opportunities within the aviation sector, ultimately relying on a competent and skilled national workforce.

Tamkeen’s support for the private sector in Bahrain is in line with its 2024 strategic priorities that focus on economic impact and the private sector. The organization aims to increase economic participation by providing employment opportunities for new market entrants, expand career development opportunities for the workforce, and further develop the private sector by supporting enterprises and boosting productivity through technology adoption. This strategic approach underscores Tamkeen’s commitment to driving economic growth and supporting the development of Bahrain’s private sector, particularly in industries like aviation.

In conclusion, the partnership between Tamkeen and Gulf Air to train Bahrainis as pilots and aviation engineers signifies a joint effort to enhance national capabilities in the aviation sector. By providing specialized training and creating high-quality job opportunities, this collaboration aims to support Bahraini talent and prepare them for success in the aviation industry. With a focus on global standards and professional development, this initiative showcases the commitment of both organizations to contribute to the growth and sustainability of the aviation sector in Bahrain.
