The second Gulf Hackathon for AI in Education recently concluded in Bahrain, with the event being organized by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States in partnership with the Ministry of Education. The event was attended by high-profile guests including His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education; Dr. Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Alasmi, Director General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States; and Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of Arabian Gulf University (AGU).

Dr. Juma emphasized the significance of integrating AI into curricula across the GCC, stating that Bahrain is committed to enhancing cooperation with the Arab Bureau of Education. Dr. Al Asmi praised Bahrain’s support for the hackathon and highlighted the alignment of the event with the bureau’s future-oriented programs, based on expert studies and collaboration with member states.

The hackathon involved 34 high school students from GCC countries, who competed to create AI-driven projects. The participants showcased their creativity and innovation, developing solutions that can potentially revolutionize the education sector. The event concluded with the announcement of the competition results and the recognition of the winning student teams.
