The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia conducted a series of inspection raids last week that resulted in the arrest of 20,718 illegal residents in various regions of the country. The arrests were made during joint field security campaigns carried out by security forces and government agencies between Aug. 22 and Aug. 28. Among those arrested, 13,248 were violators of the Residency Law, 4,688 were violators of the Border Security Law, and 2,782 were violators of the Labor Law. Additionally, 744 individuals were arrested while attempting to cross the border into the Kingdom, with the majority being Yemeni and Ethiopian nationals. Sixty-nine people were arrested while trying to leave the Kingdom illegally.

In addition to the illegal residents, 16 individuals who were involved in transporting, sheltering, and employing violators were also arrested. Currently, 14,634 expatriates are undergoing legal procedures as part of punitive measures against them. This includes 5,361 violators who were referred to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents, 1,982 violators who were referred to complete their travel reservations, and 12,410 violators who were deported. The Ministry of Interior has warned that anyone who facilitates the illegal entry of individuals, transports them, provides shelter or any other assistance may face severe penalties including up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million. Vehicles used for transportation or houses used for sheltering may also be confiscated.

To address these violations, the ministry has urged the public to report any instances of illegal activity by calling the emergency numbers 911, 999, or 996 in different regions of the Kingdom. This crackdown on illegal residents is part of the government’s efforts to ensure the safety and security of the country and its residents. By enforcing laws related to residency, border security, and labor, Saudi Arabia aims to maintain order and protect its borders from illegal entry. These measures also serve to deter individuals from attempting to enter or leave the Kingdom illegally, as they face severe consequences for violating the law.

The ministry’s actions reflect a commitment to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the rights of legal residents in Saudi Arabia. By targeting not only the illegal residents themselves but also those who facilitate their activities, the government is sending a strong message that violations of immigration laws will not be tolerated. This comprehensive approach to enforcement includes both punitive measures against violators and preventative measures such as public awareness campaigns and increased vigilance at the borders. Through these efforts, the Ministry of Interior aims to maintain the integrity of the country’s immigration system and protect national security.

As the Kingdom continues to strengthen its efforts to combat illegal immigration, it is essential for all residents and citizens to cooperate with authorities and report any suspicious activity. By working together, the community can contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all individuals in Saudi Arabia. The recent arrests of illegal residents demonstrate the government’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and upholding the country’s sovereignty. Through continued vigilance and enforcement, Saudi Arabia will safeguard its borders and protect the welfare of its residents.
