In a recent announcement, the Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) Council, in collaboration with the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), unveiled a call for innovation focused on tackling challenges in Digital Multi-Channels through Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Chatbots. The initiative aims to improve consumer interactions across various digital platforms by leveraging cutting-edge technology. Startups, Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and corporates are encouraged to submit their innovative proposals by September 10, 2024.

Nada Al Olaqi, RDI Program Director at QRDI Council, expressed excitement about the project and highlighted the benefits of utilizing Generative AI to enhance consumer experiences. She emphasized the importance of fostering a dynamic innovation ecosystem and creating new opportunities in the tech sector through this initiative. The collaboration with CRA is seen as a strategic move to integrate advanced solutions into Qatar’s digital infrastructure, ultimately enhancing the overall customer experience in the country.

Amel Salem Al-Hanawi, Director of the Consumer Affairs Department at CRA, reiterated the organization’s commitment to leveraging Generative AI to enhance consumer experiences in line with Qatar’s long-term vision and national development strategies. The goal is to provide seamless, real-time interactions and personalized services to consumers, thus contributing to the advancement of a digitally advanced society. This initiative is aimed at ensuring efficient communication and maintaining Qatar’s leadership in the global digital landscape.

CRA has successfully digitized its consumer protection processes through a comprehensive digital system that integrates all stakeholders and public channels through a central CRM system. The organization is now seeking innovative technologies to develop Generative AI chatbots that can efficiently handle consumer complaints and inquiries in real-time. Proposed solutions must align with CRA’s regulatory frameworks and authenticate users through the National Authentication Services (NAS).

The Qatar Open Innovation program serves as a key platform for startups and innovators to engage with potential government and corporate buyers, co-creating technological solutions to address the nation’s most pressing challenges. The program focuses on five national priority areas, including energy, health, resource sustainability, society, and digital technology. By launching over 50 Open Innovation Calls in collaboration with more than 20 local partners across various sectors, the QOI program has garnered interest and participation from innovators in Qatar and globally.

Overall, the collaboration between QRDI Council and CRA signifies a significant step towards leveraging technology to enhance consumer experiences in Qatar. By harnessing the power of Generative AI chatbots, the initiative aims to improve efficiency, intuition, and satisfaction in consumer interactions across digital platforms. The program also aligns with Qatar’s vision for a digitally advanced society and reinforces the country’s position in the global digital landscape. Interested startups and companies are encouraged to participate in this innovative call for proposals to contribute to the ongoing development of Qatar’s tech sector.
