Doha, Qatar is set to become the new host of the WSJ Tech Live conference annually for five years, starting in 2025. The announcement was made by the Government Communications Office, with Director Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani and Almar Latour, publisher of The Wall Street Journal and CEO of Dow Jones, revealing this exciting partnership. This marks the first time the prestigious tech event will be held in the Middle East, bringing together over 200 C-suite executives, investors, startups, and venture capitalists from around the world.

Sheikh Jassim highlighted the significance of Qatar hosting WSJ Tech Live, stating that it aligns with the country’s vision to become a global hub for advanced technology and innovation as outlined in the Third National Development Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030. The event is expected to elevate Qatar’s technology ecosystem by providing a platform for top tech leaders to share their expertise, insights, and networks. This gathering will not only inspire local talent but also attract international investment and foster strategic global partnerships to drive Qatar’s development forward.

Almar Latour emphasized the importance of reflecting the entire global business community through reliable journalism, data, and analytics. With the MENA region’s growth in technology, particularly in AI and the energy sector, Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal are thrilled to partner with Qatar for this event. WSJ Tech Live has been convening industry leaders for the past 11 years, covering a wide range of topics such as entertainment, music, robotics, AI, and science. This year’s event in Laguna Beach was a huge success, with record-breaking sponsorship revenue and insightful discussions on various technology trends.

The decision to host WSJ Tech Live in Qatar adds to the country’s portfolio of global events, including the FIFA World Cup, Web Summit Qatar, Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, and Doha Forum. This strategic move further solidifies Qatar’s position as a leading destination for technological discourse and innovation. By fostering an environment where innovation thrives and facilitating collaborations between local talent and global industry leaders, Qatar is propelling its digital economy forward and establishing itself as a key player in shaping the future of global technology.

The partnership between Qatar and WSJ Tech Live highlights the country’s commitment to advancing technology and innovation on a global scale. By hosting this exclusive event, Qatar is showcasing its dedication to fostering a knowledge-based economy and driving development in the technology sector. With a focus on collaboration, inspiration, and strategic partnerships, the conference will not only benefit the local tech ecosystem but also attract international attention and investment to support Qatar’s growth and position in the global technology landscape.

In conclusion, the announcement of Qatar hosting WSJ Tech Live annually for the next five years marks a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards becoming a global technology hub. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships, this partnership with The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones will not only elevate Qatar’s technology ecosystem but also position the country as a key player in shaping the future of global technology. By providing a platform for top tech leaders to share their expertise, insights, and networks, Qatar is paving the way for a bright and innovative future in the world of technology.
