The State of Qatar has expressed its support for a United Nations General Assembly resolution calling for Israel to end its unlawful presence in the occupied Palestinian territories within 12 months. The resolution, approved by a majority of 124 votes, was in response to an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on the legality of Israel’s actions in the occupied territory. Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the resolution reflects the justice of the Palestinian cause and the international recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

The MOFA emphasized the importance of all countries complying with their obligations under international law and working towards implementing the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination. Qatar reiterated its firm stance on the Palestinian cause, supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The resolution also calls on countries not to recognize the legitimacy of the situation resulting from the occupation or provide assistance to maintain it.

The adoption of the UNGA resolution by a majority of countries is seen as a significant step towards advancing the rights of the Palestinian people and holding Israel accountable for its actions in the occupied territories. Qatar’s support for the resolution underscores its commitment to justice and human rights in the region. The resolution is a clear indication of the international community’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their own independent state.

Qatar’s endorsement of the resolution signals its continued dedication to the Palestinian cause and its efforts to bring about a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the region. The resolution highlights the need for all countries to respect international law and work towards a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The State of Qatar’s support for the resolution demonstrates its commitment to upholding the principles of justice, human rights, and international law in the region.

By welcoming the UNGA resolution and emphasizing the importance of compliance with international law, Qatar is reaffirming its position as a strong advocate for the rights of the Palestinian people. The resolution represents a significant milestone in the international community’s efforts to address the ongoing occupation of Palestinian territories and support the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. Qatar’s support for the resolution is a testament to its commitment to justice, peace, and security in the region.
