Qatar and Iran are gearing up for a thrilling clash in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers, with both teams looking to claim victory in an intense battle in Dubai. The match, set to take place at Rashid Stadium, is expected to be fiercely contested as both teams renew their rivalry since their previous encounter in the AFC Asian Cup semi-final. Qatar, the eventual champions of that match, are currently ranked 44th in the world, while Iran, the favorites, are ranked 19th.

Iran enters the match with seven points, trailing Uzbekistan only on goal difference in the ongoing qualifying round. Qatar, on the other hand, is currently fourth in the group with four points, tied with the UAE. However, Qatar comes into the match with renewed confidence following a 3-1 victory over Kyrgyzstan, which was a morale-boosting win after a surprising loss to the UAE and a draw with North Korea. Qatar coach Marquez Lopez is well aware of the tough challenge that Iran poses and has emphasized the importance of gaining more points in the upcoming match.

Both teams are ready to fight for maximum points in this crucial encounter. Qatar’s midfielder Tarek Salman, who was part of the team that defeated Iran in the Asian Cup semi-final, expressed eagerness to replicate that success. Iran coach Amir Ghalenoei acknowledged Qatar’s strategic play and called them a “dangerous team”. He emphasized the importance of winning to bring joy to the fans, rather than seeking revenge for their previous encounter in the Asian Cup semi-final.

The match promises to deliver captivating action, with both teams aiming to secure a victory to boost their chances of qualification. Iran’s goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand, who has maintained a clean sheet so far, expressed determination to secure a positive result against Qatar. The match is set to kick off at 7pm (Qatar time) at Rashid Stadium in Dubai. Fans can expect an intense battle between these two Asian heavyweights as they vie for a crucial victory in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers.
