United People Global (UPG) is a non-profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, that focuses on training individuals and organizations in sustainable practices to support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. One of their flagship programs is the UPG Sustainability Leadership program, which aims to empower individuals to become leaders in sustainability and make positive changes in their communities. Muhammad Irfan has been selected to represent Bahrain and attend a training session at the Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership in the United States.

Since its inception in 2019, the UPG Sustainability Leadership program has trained over 2,700 young leaders from 137 countries, who have in turn impacted over 86,000 citizens through their initiatives. The training is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to drive sustainable development in their communities. Each year, over 13,000 individuals apply for the program, highlighting the importance and demand for such opportunities.

The training at the Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership is a life-changing experience for the selected participants. It offers them unparalleled exposure and capacity building opportunities that can shape their future work in sustainability. The program is highly competitive, with only 60 individuals chosen to undertake the UPG Sustainability Pilgrimage to Hurricane Island each year.

The UPG Sustainability Pilgrimage is a complementary experience that reinforces the lessons learned during the main program and allows participants to represent their countries on a global stage. This unique opportunity enables young leaders to showcase their initiatives and collaborate with peers from around the world. The goal is to create a global network of sustainability leaders who can work together to tackle pressing environmental and social issues.

Attending the training at the Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership is a prestigious opportunity for individuals like Muhammad Irfan, who are passionate about making a difference in the world. By equipping participants with the necessary skills and knowledge, UPG is empowering a new generation of leaders who are committed to creating a more sustainable future for all. The impact of this program extends far beyond the individual participants, as they go on to inspire and engage countless others in their communities.

Overall, United People Global’s focus on training individuals in sustainability is a crucial step towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations. By investing in young leaders and providing them with the tools they need to drive positive change, UPG is building a more sustainable future for generations to come. The selection of Muhammad Irfan to represent Bahrain at the training in the United States is a testament to the organization’s dedication to fostering global citizenship and promoting sustainable development worldwide.
