The Riyadh International Book Fair 2024 is currently underway, featuring over 2,000 publishing houses and agencies from more than 30 countries. The event, organized by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, offers a rich program of more than 200 events suitable for all ages, spread across 800 pavilions at King Saud University. The fair aims to provide visitors and book enthusiasts with a unique intellectual and cultural experience, welcoming writers, thinkers, intellectuals, and book enthusiasts from both Saudi Arabia and beyond. With the theme “Riyadh Reads,” the festival runs until October 5 and aims to solidify Riyadh’s position as a significant international cultural platform in the Arab world.

One of the highlights of this year’s book fair is the participation of Qatar as the guest of honor, showcasing the cultural and intellectual heritage of the country through a special pavilion. The event features the most important figures in Qatari culture, literature, and art, as well as key entities involved in cultural work. The fair serves as a platform for publishers, fostering intellectual and cultural exchange, and providing a meeting point for writers. The participation of Saudi, Arab, and international cultural organizations and institutions further enhances the fair’s significance as a major cultural event in the region.

The Riyadh International Book Fair is recognized as one of the most prominent and largest book fairs in the Arab world, drawing appreciation from the local and Arab cultural community. The fair places special emphasis on children, offering a dedicated area with a wide range of literary, cultural, and entertainment activities and competitions to enhance the creative abilities of young participants. Additionally, book signing platforms allow fans to meet their favorite authors, receive special gifts, and get their hands on the latest releases from acclaimed writers in attendance.

Throughout the duration of the fair, visitors can look forward to a variety of cultural events, including seminars, panel discussions, lectures, poetry evenings, theatrical performances, and workshops covering a diverse range of topics. A special children’s area will cater to young attendees with cultural and entertainment activities, while a section dedicated to showcasing works by Saudi authors will feature prominently. Book signing opportunities provide the public with the chance to meet their favorite authors in person and have their latest releases signed.

The Riyadh International Book Fair is open to the public daily for 10 days, from 11 am to 12 am, with adjusted hours on Fridays from 2 pm to 12 am. This provides ample time for visitors to explore the numerous pavilions, attend events, participate in activities, and immerse themselves in the vibrant literary and cultural atmosphere of the fair. By offering a platform for cultural exchange, intellectual engagement, and the celebration of literature, the Riyadh International Book Fair continues to play a pivotal role in promoting reading, creativity, and storytelling in the region.
