Bahrain’s municipal councils are gearing up to resume their regular sessions in September after enjoying a summer break. The Capital Municipality Council, along with the councils for Muharraq, Northern, and Southern governorates, will reconvene for the third session of the year. The regular sessions were put on hold at the end of June for the break, but the councils are now ready to get back to work.

The Capital Municipality Council is scheduled to have its first meeting on September 11th. During this meeting, the council will focus on approving the formation of committees, reviewing responses from ministries, and discussing decisions made during the break. They will also prioritize topics that need to be addressed in the upcoming sessions. The Muharraq Municipal Council will also be having its first meeting on September 9th, where they will concentrate on assigning committees, addressing pending issues, and reviewing urgent correspondence from ministries.

The Northern Municipal Council will kick off with a pre-meeting for committee formation on September 2nd, before finalizing the committee assignments during their first regular meeting. Similarly, a consultative meeting on committee formation will be held for the Southern Municipal Council on September 4th, before their first regular meeting on a date that is yet to be determined. Each council is gearing up to tackle important issues and make decisions that will benefit their respective communities.

One of the topics that will be discussed during the first meeting of the Southern Municipal Council is a proposal to expand Isa Town Road and create a new exit opposite the Ministry of Education to ease traffic congestion, especially after the school year begins. Additionally, there will be considerations for removing oil pipelines along Muaskar Avenue to facilitate road widening. These discussions highlight the councils’ commitment to improving infrastructure and addressing the needs of the community.

Council leaders are expressing confidence in the upcoming session, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and achieving impactful results. Dr. Shubir Al Widai, President of the Northern Municipal Council, expressed his optimism by stating, “We aspire for the Northern Municipal Council to achieve the desired accomplishments, and I am confident that council members will work together as one and achieve a qualitative leap in their municipal work.” This optimism sets the tone for a productive and successful session for all the municipal councils in Bahrain.

As the municipal councils gear up to resume their regular sessions in September, they are focused on addressing important issues that affect the communities they serve. From forming committees to reviewing urgent correspondence, the councils are prepared to make decisions that will have a positive impact on the residents of Bahrain. With a commitment to collaboration and achieving results, the councils are poised to make a difference in their respective governorates. The upcoming session promises to be a productive and impactful one, with council leaders expressing confidence in the abilities of their members to work together towards common goals.
