A tropical depression in the Arabian Sea has been classified with wind speeds of 20-25 knots and is currently situated around 950 kilometers from Oman’s coastline. The system is moving westward and may develop into a deep depression over the next two days, potentially impacting the Sultanate with rainfall starting from the night of Monday, October 14, 2024. The Civil Aviation Authority is closely monitoring the situation and providing regular updates to keep residents informed about the impending weather conditions.

The low pressure system is currently near latitude 16°N and longitude 66.5°E, indicating its trajectory towards the Dhofar Governorate and the Gulf of Aden. With the possibility of intensifying into a deep depression, the CAA is advising residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during the expected rainfall. The Sultanate may experience cloud advection and varying levels of rainfall as the tropical depression continues on its path towards Oman’s coast.

Residents in Oman are urged to be prepared for potential changes in weather conditions as the tropical depression moves closer to the coastline. The CAA has warned of the likelihood of heavy rainfall and strong winds accompanying the system, which could lead to flooding in some areas. It is important for residents to stay updated on the latest weather updates and follow safety guidelines recommended by local authorities to minimize the impact of the impending weather event.

As the tropical depression progresses towards Oman, the CAA is working with local authorities to ensure that necessary precautions are taken to safeguard the well-being of residents. Emergency response teams are on standby to assist in case of any emergencies that may arise due to the severe weather conditions. Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel during the period of heavy rainfall to prevent any accidents or disruptions.

In light of the approaching tropical depression, residents are advised to stock up on essential supplies and be prepared for potential power outages or disruptions to essential services. It is important to have emergency kits ready with food, water, and first-aid supplies in case of any unforeseen circumstances. By staying informed and following safety instructions, residents can effectively mitigate risks associated with the tropical depression and ensure their well-being during this challenging weather event.

The Sultanate of Oman is bracing itself for the impact of the tropical depression, with authorities closely monitoring the situation and providing regular updates to residents. By taking necessary precautions and staying informed about the weather conditions, residents can safeguard themselves and their communities from the potential risks associated with the approaching weather system. As the tropical depression continues to develop, it is essential for residents to remain vigilant and prepared for any eventualities to minimize the impact on lives and property.
