Bahrain has recently achieved a top-tier classification in the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI), which is conducted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This ranking places Bahrain as a leader in digital security out of the 194 nations assessed. This achievement is attributed to the strong support for Bahrain’s cybersecurity system under the leadership of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, as well as the proactive efforts of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

HE Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the CEO of the National Cyber Security Centre, also acknowledged the contributions of His Highness Major General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Commander of the Royal Guard, in enhancing the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure and cybersecurity readiness. Bahrain’s advanced position in cybersecurity is a result of its strong data protection, network security, and sophisticated infrastructure, as emphasized by the CEO.

The National Cybersecurity Strategy in Bahrain aims to ensure a secure and reliable cyber environment through comprehensive frameworks, reflecting the country’s commitment to technological advancements and data protection. These initiatives align with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, which focuses on continuous innovation, specialized talent development, and leveraging emerging opportunities for growth and development.

Bahrain excelled in the Global Cybersecurity Index across five areas, including legal, technical, regulatory, capacity development, and cooperation. The country scored between 95 and 100, placing it in the top tier internationally, and achieved perfect scores in four out of the five categories. This demonstrates Bahrain’s commitment to cybersecurity and its strong position in maintaining a secure digital environment.

The Kingdom of Bahrain’s success in cybersecurity is a testament to its dedication to enhancing its digital infrastructure, data protection measures, and cybersecurity readiness. This achievement not only strengthens its global standing in digital security but also reinforces its position as a leader in technological advancements and innovation. The continuous efforts and initiatives in Bahrain showcase the country’s commitment to driving economic growth and development through secure and reliable cybersecurity measures.

In conclusion, Bahrain’s top-tier classification in the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index is a significant achievement that reflects the country’s commitment to cybersecurity, data protection, and digital innovation. With strong leadership support and proactive efforts, Bahrain has secured its position as a leader in digital security on the global stage. The Kingdom’s advanced cybersecurity measures and initiatives align with its long-term vision for economic growth and development, positioning Bahrain as a hub for technological advancements and emerging opportunities in the digital era.
