As the winter season approaches, it is crucial to protect yourself against influenza by getting the seasonal flu vaccine. According to Dr. Muna Al Maslamani, a health expert at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the flu is a contagious respiratory illness that can lead to mild to severe complications, and even death. While anyone can be affected by the flu, certain groups are at a higher risk, including people over 50, individuals with chronic conditions, young children, pregnant women, healthcare workers and caregivers. Therefore, it is essential for these vulnerable groups to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Dr. Al Maslamani stresses the importance of getting the flu vaccine every year, especially before the peak of flu season. The vaccine has been proven to reduce flu-related illnesses and the risk of serious complications, such as hospitalization or death. By building immunity through vaccination, the spread of influenza can be prevented, particularly among those at high risk of complications. The free seasonal influenza vaccines are readily available at all primary health centers, HMC outpatient clinics, and over 30 private and semi-private clinics and hospitals across Qatar.

To get your free flu vaccine in Qatar, booking an appointment is simple. You can call 107 for information or visit your nearest Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) center. Additionally, you can receive the vaccine during a scheduled appointment or drop in for a free flu vaccine. The vaccine is also available at various private clinics across the country. For patients attending an outpatient appointment at an HMC facility, the flu vaccine is available free of charge. By taking advantage of this free service, individuals can protect their health and the wider community from the spread of influenza.

Getting vaccinated against the flu is crucial for everyone, but especially for those at higher risk of complications. People who are very young, elderly, pregnant, or have chronic medical conditions are more susceptible to severe complications from the flu. By getting vaccinated early, individuals can ensure they are protected before the winter season hits, reducing the likelihood of becoming ill and spreading the virus to others. The flu vaccine has been thoroughly tested and proven to be effective in preventing the flu, promoting the health and well-being of individuals across Qatar.

The flu vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect yourself and your community from the flu virus. By getting vaccinated before the peak of flu season, individuals can build immunity and reduce the risk of serious complications associated with the flu. The free seasonal influenza vaccines are easily accessible at healthcare facilities throughout Qatar, making it convenient for individuals to protect themselves against influenza. It is important for everyone, especially those at higher risk, to take advantage of this free service to ensure their health and well-being during the winter season.
