Dr Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic adviser to the UAE President, recently spoke at the Hili Forum in Abu Dhabi, calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and Sudan, emphasizing the urgent need for peace efforts to succeed. He highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stressing the international community’s responsibility to demand a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid. Dr Gargash also emphasized the importance of a sustainable post-conflict resolution, stating that a return to the status quo before October 7 will not bring lasting peace, and the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel is essential for true and lasting peace.

Turning his attention to Sudan, Dr Gargash described the ongoing conflict in the country as a severe humanitarian crisis, with millions in need of aid and the looming threat of famine. He noted the contrasting dynamics in the global landscape, where regions like the UAE have achieved economic growth and technological advancements, while others, particularly Gaza and Sudan, continue to face acute challenges. He attributed the UAE’s success to visionary leadership, core values of tolerance, and a commitment to fostering an open, competitive economy.

Dr Gargash highlighted the UAE’s role in global diplomacy, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in addressing pressing global issues such as climate change and technological innovation. He emphasized the forum’s role as a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaborative problem-solving in response to contemporary challenges. In his opening remarks, Dr Gargash welcomed attendees to the UAE, underlining the significance of new beginnings and the forum’s potential to foster diverse perspectives. He also conveyed the greetings of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, reinforcing the UAE’s dedication to expanding opportunities for dialogue.

In conclusion, Dr Anwar Gargash’s call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and Sudan, along with his emphasis on the importance of a sustainable post-conflict resolution and the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel, underscores the critical need for peace efforts to succeed in the region. His remarks at the Hili Forum in Abu Dhabi shed light on the humanitarian crises in Gaza and Sudan, as well as the UAE’s role in global diplomacy and collaborative problem-solving. The forum serves as a platform for meaningful dialogue and cooperation to address contemporary challenges and foster diverse perspectives for a more peaceful and prosperous future.
