The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has announced the imposition of financial fines against entities and individuals for violating various provisions of the Civil Aviation Law and its executive regulations as well as instructions issued by the authority. In the third quarter of 2024, the total value of fines slapped on airlines that violated regulations amounted to SR8.7 million. Penalties were issued by the Committee for Reviewing Violations of the Provisions of the Civil Aviation Law, with a total of 197 decisions being made.

During the third quarter of the current year, the GACA monitored 177 violations issued against air carriers for not complying with the Passenger Rights Protection Regulations. The fines for these violations amounted to SR8.5 million. Additionally, the authority monitored four violations for not complying with GACA instructions, with fines totaling SR150,000. Three violations were due to licensed companies failing to comply with authority instructions and civil aviation regulations, resulting in fines totaling SR60,000. Individuals were also fined SR25,000 for using drones without obtaining a permit from GACA. The committee recorded 9 violations on board aircraft, with fines totaling more than SR3,100.

It is crucial for airlines and individuals involved in the aviation industry to adhere to regulations and instructions set forth by the General Authority of Civil Aviation to ensure the safety and security of air travel. Violations can result in significant financial penalties, as demonstrated by the fines imposed in the third quarter of 2024. Compliance with passenger rights protection regulations, GACA instructions, and civil aviation regulations is essential to maintain a high standard of operation within the industry.

The Committee for Reviewing Violations of the Provisions of the Civil Aviation Law plays a key role in monitoring and penalizing violations within the aviation industry. With 197 decisions made in the third quarter of 2024, the committee is dedicated to upholding the standards set by the GACA. By issuing fines against entities and individuals that violate regulations, the committee aims to ensure accountability and encourage compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

In addition to monitoring violations related to passenger rights protection, the GACA also focuses on violations concerning the operation of drones without proper permits and onboard aircraft. Fines for these violations can range from SR25,000 for individuals operating drones without permits to over SR3,100 for violations occurring onboard aircraft. These penalties serve as a deterrent against non-compliance and help maintain a safe and secure aviation environment for all passengers and industry stakeholders.

The imposition of financial fines by the GACA serves as a reminder to all entities and individuals within the aviation industry to prioritize compliance with regulations and instructions. Failure to comply can result in significant financial consequences, as seen in the fines totaling SR8.7 million imposed in the third quarter of 2024. By adhering to the regulations set forth by the GACA, airlines and individuals can contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of air travel in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In conclusion, the General Authority of Civil Aviation continues to prioritize safety and compliance within the aviation industry through the imposition of fines for violations of regulations and instructions. The penalties imposed in the third quarter of 2024 demonstrate the authority’s commitment to upholding industry standards and holding entities and individuals accountable for their actions. By promoting compliance with regulations, the GACA aims to ensure the highest level of safety and security for all passengers and stakeholders involved in air travel in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
