The Dubai Police recently visited the survivors of a tragic car accident that resulted in the death of a 7-year-old child. The students who were still recovering in Al Jalila and Rashid Hospitals, as well as those who had been discharged and were at home, received gifts and well-wishes from the authorities. The visit, led by Lt-Col Rashid Mohammed Salem, director of Lahbab Police Station, aimed to offer support and encouragement to the students during their recovery process. The police officers handed out flowers and gifts and expressed their hope for a speedy recovery for the students, allowing them to return to their studies soon.

The accident, which occurred on the Hatta-Lahbab Road, was attributed to factors such as excessive speed, negligence, and a lack of attention by the driver. The vehicle lost control, collided with a metal barrier, and overturned in a sandy area off the road. The accident resulted in the death of one student and injuries to 11 others, including the driver. According to a police source, the vehicle was overcrowded with 12 passengers, which is a serious violation of passenger limits and a punishable offense in the UAE. The authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine the exact cause and prevent similar incidents in the future.

One of the surviving students, a young Bangladeshi named S.T., shared her account of the accident with Khaleej Times. She described the terrifying moment when the car hit the iron barrier and overturned multiple times, causing the glass to break and sand to enter the vehicle. S.T. recalled closing her eyes and praying for the car to stop rolling. The accident occurred near a construction site, and the quick response of nearby laborers helped to overturn the car and rescue the trapped child. The passengers immediately began reciting prayers, hoping for a positive outcome amidst the chaos.

The students had hired a 7-seater SUV to transport them from their homes in Sharjah to schools in Garhoud, with the tragic accident occurring during their morning commute. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and adhering to traffic regulations to prevent accidents and protect the lives of passengers. The Dubai Police’s visit to the survivors aimed to offer support and encouragement during their recovery process and provide them with a sense of community and care during a difficult time. By sharing their experience and raising awareness of road safety, the survivors hope to prevent similar tragedies and promote safer transportation practices in the future.

As the students continue their recovery journey, the Dubai Police’s gesture of goodwill and support serves as a reminder of the importance of community and care during times of adversity. The authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the accident to determine the root cause and prevent similar incidents in the future. By raising awareness of the importance of road safety and adherence to traffic rules, the survivors hope to create a safer environment for all road users and prevent tragic accidents like the one they experienced. Through their resilience and determination, the survivors are advocating for safer transportation practices and promoting a culture of support and solidarity within their community.
