Bahraini Minister Emphasizes Enhanced Bahrain-US Relations at AmCham Annual Event

His Excellency Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Bahrain’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, recently commended the enduring and robust partnership between Bahrain and the United States at the annual ceremony of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain (AmCham Bahrain). The Minister highlighted the significance of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two nations and its positive impact on trade growth. He emphasized Bahrain’s commitment to further enhancing bilateral ties through joint agreements and mutual visits, expressing optimism about expanding the partnership to include sectors like technology, finance, and tourism. The event, attended by AmCham Bahrain President Qays Al Zubi and distinguished officials, served as a platform to review key topics shaping Bahrain-US relations.

Minister Fakhro emphasized the potential of the FTA as a catalyst for growth, stressing the need for more businesses to leverage the opportunities for trade and investment it offers. In 2022, bilateral trade between the two countries reached $3 billion, with US exports amounting to $1.8 billion and imports from Bahrain reaching $1 billion. AmCham Bahrain President Qays Al Zubi also reaffirmed the Chamber’s dedication to strengthening economic ties and fostering a closer bond between Bahrain and the US. Both leaders stressed the importance of continuing the strong economic relationship and seizing new opportunities in the future.

The Minister’s remarks underscored the long-standing and fruitful relationship between Bahrain and the US, built on mutual respect and cooperation over many decades. The annual AmCham Bahrain event provided an opportunity to review key aspects of Bahrain-US relations and explore avenues for further collaboration. Minister Fakhro highlighted the positive impact of the FTA on trade growth and agricultural exports from the US to Bahrain, while expressing optimism about expanding cooperation into vital sectors such as technology, finance, and tourism.
