Bahraini Engineer Achieves Global Recognition with ’20 Under 35′ Award

Bahraini space engineer Yaqoub Al Qassab has recently been awarded the prestigious global ‘20 Under 35’ award by The Society of Satellite Professionals International. This recognition highlights Al Qassab’s exceptional academic and professional achievements in satellite construction, as well as his contribution to the advancement of space technology in Bahrain and globally. He is the only Arab to be honoured among this year’s recipients, selected by a panel of judges based on various criteria relevant to the space industry.

Dr Ebrahim Al Aseeri, CEO of the National Space Science Agency (NSSA), expressed his pride in Al Qassab’s success, noting that Bahrain was the only Arab nation represented among the winners. He commended Al Qassab for his dedication to advancing space science in the country and highlighted that such achievements reflect the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Al Qassab humbly expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from the National Space Science Agency, acknowledging the role of the Board of Directors and executive management in his success. He stated that this recognition serves as motivation for him to further enhance his expertise in space science and encourage Bahraini youth to pursue their dreams with determination. The award is a testament to Bahrain’s commitment to promoting advancements in the field of space technology.

The Society of Satellite Professionals International, founded in 1983, aims to position the space and satellite industry as a leader in talent attraction and innovation. With a membership of over 3,800 professionals from more than 40 countries, the organization plays a key role in driving advancements in the field. The global ‘20 Under 35’ award recognizes young professionals who have made significant contributions to the industry.

Al Qassab’s recognition on a global platform not only highlights his individual achievement but also boosts Bahrain’s profile in the field of space science. As the only Arab honouree among this year’s recipients, his success serves as an inspiration to aspiring space engineers in the region.
