The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ recently announced the completion of the first package of the Roads and Infrastructure Development Project in Al Ebb and Leabaib, along with the completion of the main works of the fifth package. This project aims to provide integrated infrastructure services and advanced road networks in the areas of Al Ebb and Leabaib. It includes five packages that will serve a total of 5,592 residential plots upon completion, with packages 1 and 5 already completed and packages 2, 3, and 4 currently in progress.

Packages 1 and 5 serve a total of 1,910 residential plots for citizens’ subdivisions, bringing significant improvements to the area by providing advanced infrastructure services, internal road networks, and connectivity to the existing main road network. These developments enhance traffic flow, enable citizens to build their houses, and accommodate the area’s population growth. Package 5 has completed all main works, with ongoing efforts to complete house connections and beautification works.

The first package of the project serves about 1,123 residential plots and includes a 27 km long road network, 52 km of pedestrian paths, traffic safety elements, parking spaces, surface and groundwater drainage networks, a TSE network, and sewage lines. Meanwhile, the fifth package serves approximately 787 plots of citizens’ subdivisions and includes a 24 km roads network, pedestrian and bicycle paths, traffic safety elements, parking spaces, surface and groundwater drainage networks, treated water network, and sewage lines. Works are currently underway to finalize sewage connections to houses and landscaping.

During the project implementation, the team faced several challenges, including the high groundwater level in the area, which required solutions for water drainage before construction could begin. The rocky soil also caused delays in excavation work, with some areas requiring digging up to 30 meters deep, necessitating enhanced safety procedures for workers. Additionally, coordination with various government entities was crucial to complete the infrastructure development work. The project also aligns with Ashghal’s strategy of supporting local manufacturers, with 80% of the materials used sourced from Qatari suppliers.

Overall, the Roads and Infrastructure Development Project in Al Ebb and Leabaib signifies Ashghal’s commitment to providing modern infrastructure and advanced road networks in Qatar. By completing packages 1 and 5 and progressing with packages 2, 3, and 4, the Authority is enhancing the quality of life for residents in the area, promoting sustainable development, and supporting local manufacturing industries. The ongoing efforts to address challenges and ensure the completion of house connections and beautification works demonstrate Ashghal’s dedication to delivering high-quality infrastructure projects for the benefit of the community.
