Alkhorayef seeks partnerships in drone and automotive industries.

Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef recently met with Spanish business leaders in Madrid to discuss potential collaborations in various sectors such as drones, automotive, and geological survey. During the meeting, Alkhorayef emphasized Saudi Arabia’s focus on developing advanced industries and localizing manufacturing in key sectors. He highlighted the importance of comprehensive geological survey operations to support the country’s industrial growth.

Alkhorayef met with heads of Drone Hopper, Ferroglobe, Reinosa Forgings & Castings, IDIADA, and Xcalibur to explore potential partnerships in their respective industries. Additionally, he discussed potential collaborations in geological research with the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain Director Ana María Alonso Zarza. The discussions aimed at strengthening industrial and mining cooperation between the two countries and exploring opportunities in the Saudi industrial sector.

The Saudi minister highlighted the economic transformation under Vision 2030, emphasizing the role of industry and mining in diversifying the Kingdom’s economy. He underscored the focus on developing the mining sector as a third pillar of the Saudi industry, leveraging the country’s estimated $2.5 trillion-worth of mineral wealth. Alkhorayef stressed the importance of international partnerships and attracting investment in the mining sector, citing Spain’s expertise in mining as a potential avenue for cooperation.

Alkhorayef also discussed joint opportunities with Spanish Senate Industry and Tourism Committee President Francisco Javier Lacalle Lacalle and Secretary General for Economic Affairs and G20 Manuel de la Rocha Vázquez. The discussions revolved around ways to strengthen industrial and mining cooperation between the two countries. The Saudi minister highlighted the incentives and support provided to investors in Saudi Arabia and encouraged Spanish companies to invest in the Kingdom.

The minister’s visit aimed at exploring potential collaborations in key sectors such as drones, automotive, and geological survey. Alkhorayef highlighted opportunities in the National Industrial Strategy and the Comprehensive Strategy for Mining, underscoring the importance of international partnerships in advancing the Saudi industrial sector. He emphasized the need for comprehensive geological survey operations to support industrial growth and encouraged Spanish companies to invest in Saudi Arabia.
