Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, recently met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the strong strategic relations between their two countries and ways to serve their mutual interests. The meeting took place during a reception hosted by PM Modi for Sheikh Khaled at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. Sheikh Khaled’s official visit to India, which began on September 8, was at the invitation of Modi.

The discussions between Sheikh Khaled and PM Modi focused on reviewing bilateral relations within the framework of the strategic partnership between the UAE and India. They explored ways to further strengthen and advance these alliances across various fields of cooperation for the benefit of both nations and their people. Sheikh Khaled is scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and visit Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi during his visit.

The meeting between Sheikh Khaled and PM Modi also highlighted the historical bonds of friendship and cooperation between the UAE and India across all key sectors. Both leaders discussed topics of mutual interest and announced several strategic agreements within the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). These agreements encompass a range of priority areas in both the public and private sectors to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

One of the key agreements announced during the meeting was a 15-year LNG Heads of Agreement between Adnoc and IndianOil for 1 million metric tonnes of LNG per annum. Adnoc will primarily source the LNG from its lower-carbon Ruwais LNG project. Additionally, Adnoc signed a strategic framework agreement with Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited to extend its existing oil storage agreement and support India’s energy security.

ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Gujarat to develop a major food and agriculture park in India featuring state-of-the-art technologies. Furthermore, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation partnered with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India to share knowledge and expertise across all areas of nuclear energy development, showcasing the UAE’s leading nuclear capabilities globally.

In conclusion, the meeting between Sheikh Khaled and PM Modi highlighted the strong strategic relations and historical friendship between the UAE and India. The discussions and agreements reached during the meeting aim to further enhance economic cooperation and mutual interests between the two nations across various sectors. The partnerships and agreements signed during Sheikh Khaled’s visit underscore the commitment of both countries to strengthen their strategic alliance for the benefit of their people and economies.
