A local charity based in Ajman has recently launched a Dh3-million initiative aimed at assisting residency violators in correcting their status and obtaining their residency visas. The International Charity Organisation (ICO) initiated the ‘Correction of the Status of Violators’ campaign in line with a broader effort by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) to waive fines for individuals who have violated entry and residency regulations. The two-month visa amnesty programme, which began on September 1 and will continue until October 30, offers violators the opportunity to regularise their status or leave the country without facing bans, fines, or exit fees. Dr. Khalid Al Khaja, the secretary-general of ICO, highlighted the importance of supporting national campaigns like this, which exempt individuals from residency fines and allow them to rectify their status.

Supporting national campaigns and initiatives is a crucial part of the ICO’s approach, as demonstrated by their active participation in the visa amnesty programme. This campaign aims to provide individuals with the chance to correct their residency status and avoid facing substantial fines or bans. By assisting violators in completing the necessary procedures for obtaining their residency visas, the ICO is contributing to the overall effort to regulate and streamline the residency status of individuals in the country. The initial phase of the initiative will focus on processing 600 applications from individuals who meet the required conditions, with the potential for additional applications to be reviewed in the future. By actively engaging with and supporting such campaigns, the ICO is playing a vital role in helping individuals navigate the complexities of residency regulations and obtain the necessary documentation to comply with the law.

As part of the broader campaign led by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), the ICO’s ‘Correction of the Status of Violators’ initiative aligns with the government’s efforts to address residency violations and streamline the visa issuance process. Through this initiative, the ICO aims to assist individuals in rectifying their residency status and avoiding the significant penalties associated with violating residency regulations. By providing individuals with the opportunity to regularise their status or leave the country without incurring fines or bans, the campaign seeks to alleviate the burden faced by residency violators and simplify the process of obtaining their residency visas. By actively participating in and supporting national campaigns like this, the ICO is demonstrating its commitment to helping individuals resolve their residency status and comply with the law.
