Qatar Airways recently announced its plan to expand operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by resuming services to Abha and increasing flights to NEOM. Starting January 2, 2025, the airline will operate two weekly flights to Abha International Airport and increase flights to NEOM from two to four per week during the winter season. This move aims to provide passengers with more travel options and seamless access to Qatar Airways’ vast network of over 170 global destinations through Doha’s Hamad International Airport.

Abha, known for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage, will be Qatar Airways’ 11th destination in Saudi Arabia. This new addition complements the airline’s existing services to cities like AlUla, Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, and Riyadh, among others. With over 140 weekly flights to the Kingdom, Qatar Airways is committed to strengthening connectivity within the region and catering to the increasing travel demand in Saudi Arabia.

Passengers travelling to NEOM will have the opportunity to experience a unique living experience in this futuristic city by the Red Sea. Qatar Airways currently operates two weekly flights to NEOM, which will be doubled to four weekly flights starting this winter. The Group Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, expressed pride in resuming flights to Abha and increasing frequencies to NEOM, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to connecting passengers to popular destinations in Saudi Arabia.

Officials from the Saudi Air Connectivity Program and Cluster 2 Airports Company also praised the resumption of flights to Aseer and Abha, as well as the increase in frequencies to NEOM. The initiative aligns with the National Aviation Strategy and the Air Connectivity Program, demonstrating the dedication to enhancing the region’s global network and airport services. Aseer Development Authority Acting CEO, Engr. Hashim Al-Dabbagh, highlighted the positive impact the resumption of the route will have on enhancing connectivity and promoting tourism in the region.

Paving the way for seamless travel connections, passengers flying from Abha can easily access key destinations like Dubai, Manila, and Sharjah, while enjoying world-class facilities at Hamad International Airport. Qatar Airways, named the ‘World’s Best Airline’ by Skytrax, continues to expand its global network and provide enhanced travel options for passengers in Saudi Arabia. Flights to Abha, NEOM, and other destinations can be booked through the Qatar Airways website and mobile application, offering a convenient booking experience for passengers.

In conclusion, the expansion of Qatar Airways’ operations in Saudi Arabia with the resumption of flights to Abha and increased frequencies to NEOM underscores the airline’s commitment to providing connectivity and travel options for passengers in the region. The initiative is expected to enhance tourism, promote economic growth, and strengthen the relationship between Qatar Airways and Saudi Arabia. With a focus on customer service, convenience, and a seamless travel experience, Qatar Airways continues to solidify its position as a leading carrier in the region, offering passengers a gateway to explore global destinations through its extensive network.
