Qatar leads 9th meeting of GCC Assistant Ministers responsible for Islamic Affairs and Endowments

The State of Qatar recently chaired the 9th meeting of Assistant Ministers responsible for Islamic Affairs and Endowments in the GCC. The meeting focused on various topics, including exchanging research and expertise in endowments, caring for people with disabilities, preserving historic mosques, promoting moderate thinking, and highlighting the true image of Islam. Recommendations were made to strengthen cooperation among GCC countries in the field of Islamic affairs and endowments. The meeting emphasized the importance of collaboration and coordination in achieving common goals and advancing the religious and endowment sector in the region.

HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani, highlighted the significance of such meetings as a platform for discussing challenges, sharing experiences, and coordinating efforts. He praised the efforts of GCC Ministers in meeting the aspirations of the Council’s peoples and enhancing their path towards sustainable development. Dr. Al-Thani also commended the General Secretariat of the Council and the Permanent Committee of Specialists in Islamic Affairs and Endowments for their valuable contributions during the meeting.

In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani expressed gratitude to the participants for attending the meeting in Qatar and praised Oman for resuming in-person meetings in the previous session. Counselor Sultan bin Nasser Al Suwaidi, Assistant Secretary-General for Legislative and Legal Affairs at the GCC General Secretariat, acknowledged Qatar’s efforts in enhancing joint GCC action in the Islamic and Waqf fields. He applauded Qatar’s achievements in preserving the objectives of the true Islamic religion and developing the blessed Sunnah of Waqf, as well as its effective management of technical meetings during its chairmanship of the current session.

Representatives from the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, including Dr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, Advisor to the Minister, Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs Khalid bin Shaheen Al Ghanim, Director General of the General Administration of Endowments Eng. Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouq, and Director of the Department of Islamic Affairs Mohammed Jabr Al Mannai, were present at the meeting. The discussions and recommendations made during the meeting aim to strengthen collaboration among GCC countries in the field of Islamic affairs and endowments, ultimately contributing to the advancement of the religious and endowment sector in the region. The State of Qatar’s leadership in chairing the meeting underscores its commitment to promoting unity and cooperation among GCC member states in matters of Islamic affairs and endowments.
