The Embassy of India in Muscat recently celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The event saw a gathering of over 1000 people, including members of the Indian community, friends of India in Oman, and distinguished guests. The celebrations kicked off with Ambassador Amit Narang paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, a symbol of peace and non-violence, followed by the raising of the Indian National Flag and singing of the National Anthem.
In his address, Ambassador Narang shared excerpts from President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu’s Independence Day speech, highlighting India’s progress over the years and its vision for a prosperous future. The Ambassador also took a moment to acknowledge and offer his condolences to the victims and families affected by the recent shooting incident in Al Wadi Al Kabir. He commended the bravery of those who endured the trauma, as well as the heroic actions of ROP brave heart Youssef Al-Nadabi, who sacrificed his life to save others.
The event was further enriched by the soulful rendition of patriotic songs by the students of Indian School Darsait, creating a sense of pride and joy among the attendees. The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign also added a touch of patriotism, with attendees eagerly taking photos at a specially designed photo booth commemorating the initiative. Additionally, a presentation on the ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ shed light on the tragic events of the partition and the resilience of the Indian spirit, emphasizing the importance of remembering history for a peaceful future.
Later in the day, Ambassador Narang participated as the Chief Guest at the Independence Day celebration at Indian School Mabela, where he joined dignitaries and children for the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability. The overall celebrations at the Embassy of India, Muscat, served as a tribute to India’s journey of freedom, unity, and progress, motivating all present to continue contributing towards a brighter future for the nation.
