The Gulf ‘Artificial Intelligence in Education’ Camp for 2024 kicked off in Doha, Qatar, organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) in collaboration with the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States. The camp is targeted towards high school male and female students from member countries, who will participate remotely via the Gulf AI Observatory platform. Over a period of three weeks, the camp seeks to enhance participants’ understanding of AI concepts and equip them with the necessary skills to pursue careers in this rapidly growing field.

The main focus of the camp is to train 14 students from Qatar on algorithms, programming methodologies, and AI through practical projects. The curriculum includes an introduction to the Python programming language, machine learning, natural language processing, deep learning, generative intelligence, and prompt engineering. By providing hands-on experience and exposure to cutting-edge technologies, the camp aims to prepare students for the future workforce and contribute to Qatar’s advancements in AI and cybersecurity.

Participants at the event had the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in AI and its significance in driving growth and innovation across various industries, including education. The camp not only serves as a platform for developing technical skills but also fosters a deeper understanding of the labor market needs, enabling students to align their career goals with industry demands. By collaborating with trainers from different member countries, participants are exposed to diverse perspectives and insights in the field of AI.

Qatari students expressed their excitement to be part of the camp and highlighted the importance of integrating AI technologies in education. They believe that the knowledge and skills acquired during the camp will not only enhance their expertise in technology but also enable them to contribute to Qatar’s progress in AI and cybersecurity domains. The hands-on approach taken in the camp allows students to apply theoretical concepts to practical projects, reinforcing their understanding of AI principles and methodologies.

In addition to technical training, the camp serves as a valuable networking platform for students to connect with industry professionals and trainers from the region. By interacting with experts in the field, participants gain insights into industry trends, best practices, and career opportunities in AI. The collaborative nature of the camp encourages knowledge sharing and fosters a sense of community among students, preparing them for future collaboration and innovation in the field of AI.

Overall, the Gulf ‘Artificial Intelligence in Education’ Camp for 2024 in Doha, Qatar, offers a comprehensive learning experience for high school students interested in pursuing a career in AI. By providing hands-on training, exposure to industry experts, and practical projects, the camp equips participants with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence.
