The Infectious Diseases Association of the Bahrain Medical Society, in partnership with Education Plus, is organizing the second International Conference on Antibiotic-Resistant Microbes and Infectious Diseases. This event, scheduled to take place from September 19 to 22, 2024, at the Diplomat Hotel, will also include a workshop on the optimal use of antibiotics. The inaugural edition of this conference was a success, and this upcoming edition is set to build on that momentum.

Under the patronage of His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council of Health, the conference aims to bring together experts in the field of infectious diseases to address the global challenge of antibiotic resistance. Dr. Jamila Al-Salman, Chair of the Conference and President of the Infectious Diseases Association at the Bahrain Medical Society, emphasized the importance of this event in combating the growing threat of antibiotic-resistant microbes and infectious diseases.

As a Member of the Shura Council, an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Arabian Gulf University, and a Consultant in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Aging, and Infection Control, Dr. Al-Salman brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the conference. Her leadership in organizing this event underscores the commitment of the Bahrain Medical Society to raising awareness and promoting best practices in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.

The workshop on the optimal use of antibiotics is a crucial component of the conference, as misuse and overuse of these medications have contributed to the rise of antibiotic-resistant microbes. By educating healthcare professionals on the appropriate prescribing and administration of antibiotics, the conference aims to mitigate the spread of antibiotic resistance and improve patient outcomes in the treatment of infectious diseases.

Participants in the International Conference on Antibiotic-Resistant Microbes and Infectious Diseases can expect to engage in discussions on the latest research findings, clinical practices, and public health strategies related to combating antibiotic resistance. With a diverse array of speakers and topics, this event promises to be a valuable opportunity for knowledge-sharing and professional development in the field of infectious diseases.

Overall, the second edition of the International Conference on Antibiotic-Resistant Microbes and Infectious Diseases is a testament to the ongoing efforts to address the global health threat posed by antibiotic resistance. By bringing together experts, healthcare professionals, and policymakers, this conference serves as a platform for collaboration and innovation in the fight against infectious diseases. Through education, research, and advocacy, the conference aims to advance the field of infectious diseases and protect public health worldwide.
