Members of the Qatar delegation participated in the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games at the Place de la Concorde in Paris. Sara Masud and Ali Arshad, who will represent Qatar in the Games, had the honor of carrying the national flag during the ceremony. Sara will be competing in women’s shot put, while Ali will be participating in the 100m and 800m wheelchair races. The ceremony, similar to the opening of the Olympics on the River Seine in July, took place away from the main stadium for the first time in Paralympic history. The Qatar delegation is led by Dr. Hassan Al Ansari, Secretary-General of the Qatar Paralympic Committee.

The delegation also includes Arshad’s coach Nabil Al Musalmani, Sara’s coach Walid Maghmoul, physiotherapist Anis Boughmoura, and technical expert Mohammed Suhail. Ali Arshad expressed his excitement at carrying Qatar’s flag during the opening ceremony, describing it as a historic moment for any athlete. Sara expressed her gratitude to QPC for selecting her to carry the flag. The athletes and their team are proud to represent Qatar on the international stage and are determined to give their best performances at the Paralympic Games.

The Paralympic Games provide a platform for athletes with physical disabilities to showcase their talent and determination on a global scale. Qatar has been actively involved in promoting and supporting the participation of athletes with disabilities in international sporting events. The Qatar Paralympic Committee plays a key role in identifying and nurturing talent among athletes with disabilities, providing them with the necessary support and resources to compete at the highest level.

The participation of Sara Masud and Ali Arshad in the Paralympic Games is a testament to their hard work and dedication in their respective disciplines. Sara’s expertise in shot put and Ali’s speed and agility in wheelchair races make them formidable competitors at the Games. The Qatari delegation is confident in their abilities to represent their country with pride and to inspire others with disabilities to pursue their sporting aspirations.

The Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games was a momentous occasion for the Qatar delegation, as they proudly carried their national flag in front of a global audience. The athletes, coaches, and support staff are united in their commitment to showcasing Qatar’s sporting prowess and promoting inclusivity and diversity in sports. The Qatar Paralympic Committee continues to champion the cause of athletes with disabilities, ensuring that they receive equal opportunities to compete and excel in international competitions.

As the Paralympic Games progress, Sara Masud and Ali Arshad will be aiming to make their mark in their respective events, aiming for personal bests and potential medals. The Qatari delegation’s presence at the Games is a reflection of the country’s commitment to supporting athletes with disabilities and promoting a culture of inclusivity and diversity in sports. With the unwavering support of their coaches, teammates, and fans, Sara and Ali are poised to deliver outstanding performances and make Qatar proud on the global stage.
